THE MASQUERADE BALL PARTY

Children of the Sun (COSF) Uganda held its first ever Masquerade Ball party on Saturday 13th July 2019 in Makerere Kikoni. The event which is to be an annual gala is geared towards fundraising resources that will support LGBTI+ persons living with HIV to have better nutritional support as they adhere to ART/ARVs treatment and therapy.

In Uganda HIV is highly concentrated among the key population groups according to the Uganda AIDS commis sion 2011 report that puts HIV prevalence rate among sex workers at 37%, MSM at 13.7% and fisher folk at 11%, compared to the national prevalence among the general population that stands currently at 7.3% from 6.4 in 2005. Marginalization, community stigma and discrimination, the current policy, legal, social and spiritual environment are among drivers of the epidemic which compromises demand for, access to and utilization of quality HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support services. In order to address the social nutritional challenges of COSF’s clients who are on ART, in a bid to enhance their positive living and adherence, the Organisation is organizing a masquerade ball party fundraiser to be incorporated into the organization’s strategy to accomplish the following objectives of the drive to compliment the organization’s system strengthening.
